Acoustic operation

An acoustic operation is a comprehensive technical document that includes the analysis, calculations, simulations, and verification measurements of the acoustic conditions of a building. Its main goal is to confirm the compliance of the design and the completed investment with the requirements of national regulations, acoustic standards, and any potential requirements of environmental certification systems such as BREEAM and LEED.

Scope of the Study

The acoustic report analyzes the design assumptions regarding partitions, installations, interior finishes, and the functional layout of the building. Based on technical documentation, calculations and computer simulations are performed to determine the expected acoustic parameters of the building – such as:

  • sound insulation of partitions against airborne and impact noise,

  • noise level from technical installations,

  • reverberation time in rooms,

  • uniformity of sound distribution and speech intelligibility (STI).

The results of the analyses serve as a basis for making potential design corrections prior to implementation, which helps avoid costly execution errors and ensures compliance with the established acoustic standards.

Measurement Verification

Upon completion of the investment, the acoustic report is supplemented with control measurements that confirm the consistency of the achieved parameters with the values adopted in the project. The measurements include, among others, sound insulation of partitions, reverberation time in rooms, and noise level from devices and installations.

Based on this, a final report is prepared containing a summary of the results, interpretation, and assessment of compliance with applicable national regulations (including PN-B-02151-2, PN-B-02151-3, PN-B-02151-4) and the requirements of the investor or building quality certification systems.

Application of the Acoustic Report

The acoustic report may constitute:

  • a part of the building's acceptance documentation,

  • a supplement to the construction or executive project in terms of noise protection,

  • a supplement to BREEAM, LEED or WELL certification,

  • material for project or technical auditing,

  • a tool for verifying acoustic quality in the case of modernization or adaptation of the facility.

This document provides the investor with full control over meeting acoustic requirements and serves as reliable proof of the quality of the project and its execution.

The acoustic operation is a key document confirming that the applied solutions meet the requirements for sound insulation, noise protection, and acoustic comfort.
