Dolby Poland – Stage II

After the success of the first stage of adapting the Dolby office in Wrocław, the client approached us to continue our collaboration on the next level of the building. It's nice to hear that our adaptation was appreciated not only by the people working in the office but also that it has become the most beautiful Dolby office in Europe. Moreover, the news of our adaptation also reached the Dolby headquarters in San Francisco, where unfortunately at that time of our development we were unable to meet the international logistics to help arrange the Americans' new office in the States.

Returning to acoustic adaptation in Dolby, on the next floor of the office we continued the starry cosmic theme with a filmic Sci-Fi flavor.

Conference Rooms PI and Sigma

Let's start with the conference rooms: Room Pi and Sigma. Both rooms are separated by a mobile wall that can be opened for larger meetings. Thus, both rooms have a cohesive design. In the first room, a large illuminated sign “Pi” was made from a light box. The light box is placed in a black circle made of sound-absorbing PET material. Around the light box, on an acoustic wallpaper, the expansion of the number Pi is printed starting from the familiar 3.14, which we additionally illuminated.

On the walls, we installed FiberColor panels inspired by the symbol of infinity. The Sigma room was made in a similar technique to the Pi room, only the shape of the wall panels differs to an oval, referencing the continuity of work processes at Dolby.

Inspirations from the Matrix

The next acoustic adaptation in the office room at Dolby Wroclaw is the Matrix room. Green plexi and the motif of “zeros” and “ones” falling from the ceiling are nothing but a reference to the characteristic code of the program in which we live? Behind the green milled plexi, we hid the NyquiWall system to increase broadband absorption. On the side walls, we used FiberColor panels in green and gray, thus completing the soundproofing of the room.

UFO Acoustic Adaptation

The next acoustically adapted room is the UFO room. A milled disk of an unidentified flying object was made from black MDF finished with brushed aluminum. However, what would a flying saucer be without spectacular backlighting, which we also took care of. The room could not miss acoustic solutions, so behind the UFO, we placed the NyquiWall wall tensioning system with broadband absorption across the entire frequency range.

Opposite the saucer, we installed plexi mounted on spacers in the form of the Milky Way, which allowed for its illumination with LED strips, thus enhancing the otherworldly experience. Plexi was enriched with colored film to give an even more cosmic lighting effect. The whole is topped off with EcoBoard with acoustic properties.

Cyberpunk by Nyquista

Our Cyberpunk room project premiered long before the game's release and primarily took place on schedule! The goal was to give the room the most futuristic character without violating the structure of the standard ceiling. Thus, we could not neglect the installation of colorful neon lights loosely hanging in a controlled chaos from the ceiling. On the wall, we used MDF coated with laminate mimicking Corten – thus avoiding the downsides of the original Corten, which stains everything it touches with rust. We milled out spaces for more LEDs and neons in it. The division of the Corten, as well as the wall behind the television, was made from the acoustic NyquiWall system finished in graphite color.

Acoustic Phone Booths

The phone booths were made using the NyquiWall system. Angled connections and various colors individualize each of the rooms. The soundproofing is good enough that the phone booths could even serve as a professional voiceover studio.

The next acoustic phone booth was made from acoustic NyquiTiles and WoodenTiles, which designers harmoniously match, thus giving the room a more exclusive character. The thickness of the panels is only 15 mm, so in terms of acoustics, they do not compare to booths with the NyquiWall system, yet the acoustic conditions there are still excellent.

Acoustic Film Production Room

The technical room with as many as 6 monitors for image production. Due to the fact that the sound is directed towards the listener, we wanted to focus on the absorption of the rear wall to avoid disturbing the stereo listening. Therefore, on the rear wall, we placed acoustic sound-absorbing FiberColor panels and an acoustic wallpaper with a print of a characteristic test chart. The wallpaper is our proprietary NyquiWall Print solution, based on a sound-absorbing material behind the print, which is acoustically transparent.
